Education & experience

Experience across the breadth of the market.

Greer’s career spans remote art centres, auction houses, private dealing, collection management, valuations and advisory. This breadth gives her a perspective that is both commercial and collection-led.

Her auction house experience includes being part of the Aboriginal Art Department at Sotheby’s and co-establishing and heading the Aboriginal Art Department at Bonhams. She holds a degree in Art History and Theory from the University of New South Wales.

Greer has been a member of the Art Consulting Association of Australia for over a decade and a Commonwealth Accredited Valuer for the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program for 13 years.

Her experience includes the deaccessioning of more than 1,000 works from a major collection, historically significant selling exhibitions, institutional placements, multi-million-dollar collection building, private sales of important collections and record-setting results for individual artists.

Greer is a Cabrogal woman of the Dharug Nation. Her professional expertise is in Australian Indigenous art from across Australia, built through nearly two decades of working relationships with artists, remote art centres, collectors, institutions and the wider industry nationally and internationally.

Today, Greer Adams Fine Art operates as a private, boutique dealing, collection management and advisory practice. Greer works with established collectors and corporates, often across the changing needs of a collection over many years.

Clients come to her for exceptional works with impeccable provenance, considered advice and the confidence of dealing directly with an experienced and established professional. She manages the detail, oversees the ongoing needs of collections and provides guidance on their longer-term direction.

Greer works with a small number of clients at a time. This allows her to remain personally involved and give every engagement the attention it deserves.
